JRF Openings under Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Project

Applications are invited from motivated candidates with good academic records for JRF position to work at DA-IICT on sponsored research project financed by “Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)”, Gov. of India, under SERB Core Research Grant scheme. The project details, requisite qualification & experience etc. are given below:

Title of the Project: Investigation of Energy Distribution Functions (EDFs) using 2D-3V PIC-MCC Simulations and Machine Learning assisted extraction of EDFs in ExB Low Temperature Plasmas

Position and Fellowship: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 position
Consolidated salary Rs. 37,000/- p.m. + 24% HRA
Essential Qualification:
  • M.Sc./MS (Physics/Applied Physics/ Engineering Physics/Data Science)
    or
    M.Tech (Computational Science/ Computer Science / Electrical/ ICT) or Equivalent.
  • Experience in Scientific Programming with C or FORTRAN.
  • Basic understanding of Machine Learning and Plasma Science
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in Computational and Data Science Techniques, Numerical Modeling and Simulation, Computational Physics.
  • Good Knowledge of programming in C and data analysis using Python.
  • Knowledge in Parallel Programming
  • Experience with Particle-In-Cell Simulations
  • CSIR-UGC NET/ GATE qualified
Period of Appointment: Posts are purely temporary for a duration of 3 years. Appointment will be made initially for 1 year and further extendable subject to satisfactory performance. It would, therefore, not confer any right for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in DA-IICT. However, the selected candidate will be encouraged to apply for the PhD program of DA-IICT as per the available guidelines.
Job Description: Understand and perform Particle in Cell/Monte Carlo Collision Simulations.
Investigation of simulation data and Energy Distribution functions
Develop, implement, optimize ML models for scientific problems and analyse performance, numerical code development, understanding the physics of plasma transport, and data analysis.

Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their CV, qualifications and experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and the candidates are required to attend at their own expenses, no TA/DA will be provided. During interview, the knowledge of candidates will be assessed in the areas of physics, numerical/ computational methods and programming.
