Dr. Yash M. Vasavada
Dr. Yash M. Vasavada, currently a Professor at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), is an academician and researcher in the domain of communications and signal processing.
Academic Experience:
- Holds a Ph.D degree and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication from L. D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad.
- Leads the Communications, Signal Processing and Machine Intelligence (CSPMI) Lab at DA-IICT, driving research advancements in statistical theories of communication and signal processing.
- Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator for several Department of Space (DoS)-sponsored research projects, exceeding INR 1.25 crores in aggregate research funding
- Authored over 30 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
- Senior member of IEEE and a reviewer for prominent journals and conferences.
Industry Experience:
- Prior to joining DA-IICT, worked at Hughes Network Systems (USA), contributing to the system engineering design of numerous SATCOM systems, including THURAYA, ICO, Inmarsat, Jupiter, Echostar, MEXSAT, Globalstar, and OneWeb.
- Obtained twelve U.S. patents, by applying communications and DSP theories to develop practical applications.
- Recipient of the Hughes Corporation Doctorate Program Fellowship Award.
