Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
DAU invites applications from outstanding candidates for faculty positions in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Assistant Professor and Associate Professor levels.
While applications from all areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence are welcome, the University is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the following domains:
- Computer Systems and Networking: Operating Systems; Computer Networks; Distributed Systems; Cloud Computing; High-Performance Computing.
- Software Engineering and Data Management: Databases; Data Mining; Data Warehousing; Software Design and Architecture; System Analysis and Design; Code Analysis and Software Quality Assurance; Software Testing and Verification.
- Human–Computer Interaction and Interactive Technologies: Human–Computer Interaction (HCI); User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design; Cognitive Computing; Interaction Design; Intelligent and Adaptive Interfaces; Game Design and Development.
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Adversarial Machine Learning; Quantum Machine Learning; Multimodal Learning; Responsible and Trustworthy AI; Reinforcement Learning; Federated Learning; Artificial Intelligence and Ethics.
- Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval: Natural Language Processing (NLP); Large Language Models (LLMs); Knowledge Representation and Reasoning; Information Retrieval and Search Technologies.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- A Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, with a First Class or equivalent grade in the preceding degree(s), and an excellent academic record throughout; and
- A strong and sustained research record, evidenced by publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals and leading international conferences.
Assistant Professor
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, demonstrated research potential, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates with postdoctoral research experience and evidence of independent research capability will be given preference.
Associate Professor
Applicants should have a minimum of six years of post-Ph.D. experience in teaching, research, or relevant professional practice, of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor (or an equivalent position) at a higher educational institution or research organization.
Candidates are expected to have an established record of scholarly achievement, demonstrated through:
- High-quality publications in reputed journals and conferences;
- Success in securing externally funded research grants and projects;
- Experience in supervising doctoral students and mentoring research scholars; and
- Evidence of academic leadership and professional contributions to the discipline.
Industry Professionals
The University also welcomes applications from candidates with significant industry experience and a strong research and innovation profile. Professionals who have made substantial contributions to research, product development, technology innovation, or industrial R&D and are passionate about teaching and mentoring students are encouraged to apply.

The CV should provide comprehensive information on:
- Educational qualifications, beginning from Class XII (or equivalent), including institution name, year of completion, marks/CGPA, and area of specialization, where applicable;
- Academic, research, industrial, and professional experience;
- Publications in journals, conferences, books, patents, and other scholarly outputs;
- Research projects, grants, awards, recognitions, and professional activities;
- Contact details of three referees who may be approached to provide letters of recommendation in support of the application.
2. Research Statement
A concise statement describing:
- Research background and areas of expertise;
- Key research contributions and outcomes;
- Ongoing research activities;
- Short-term and long-term research plans;
- Potential opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and external funding.
3. Teaching Statement
A statement outlining:
- Teaching philosophy and pedagogical approach;
- Prior teaching and mentoring experience;
- Foundation, core, and advanced courses the candidate is qualified and interested to teach;
- Proposed elective courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise;
- Contributions to curriculum development, experiential learning, or educational innovation, if any.
Salary per year in Cost to the Institute (CTI) format
Assistant Professor: Minimum starting salary is ₹20 Lakh per annum.
(Exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates may be considered for higher compensation and additional incentives commensurate with their credentials, achievements, and potential contributions.)

Research Support and Professional Development
- Seed Research Grant: Up to ₹10 Lakh to support the establishment of research activities and laboratory infrastructure.
- Professional Development Allowance: A cumulative allowance of ₹3 Lakh every three years (on a reimbursable basis) to support participation in national and international conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities.
- Research Excellence Incentive: Financial reward of ₹1 Lakh for each publication in top-tier A/A-ranked conferences* and Q1 journals.
Health, Insurance and Other Benefits
- Comprehensive Medical Insurance: Health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 Lakh per annum for the faculty member and eligible family members under a floater policy. The entire premium is borne by the Institute.
- OPD medical reimbursement: ₹5000 per month for OPD medical expenses.
- Children Education Allowances: ₹50000 per year (₹25000 per child, and coverage up to two children.)
- Leave Travel Concession: ₹1.5 Lakh for a 4-year block.
- Interest free loan up to ₹5 Lakh.
- On-campus medical facilities, including visiting doctors and access to basic medicines through the University’s Medical Centre.
Leave and Work-Life Balance
- Casual Leave: 8 days per year.
- Special Casual Leave: 15 days per year.
- Vacation: Up to 60 days of vacation annually. Unavailed vacation is converted to earned leave (up to 30 days per year).
- Earned Leave Encashment: Accumulated earned leave is encashable upon separation from the University, as per applicable policies.
Career Growth
- Career Progression (Policy): A transparent and well-defined faculty career advancement framework that recognizes excellence in teaching, research, and institutional service.
- Teaching Load: Faculty members typically teach three courses per academic year. To facilitate a smooth transition, newly appointed faculty members are assigned a reduced teaching load of two courses during their first year (one course per semester).

Academics and Teaching Infrastructure
DAU offers a teaching environment that promotes academic excellence while ensuring a balanced workload for faculty members. Typically, faculty members teach three courses per academic year, usually distributed as two courses in one semester and one course in the other.
Faculty teaching core undergraduate and postgraduate courses are supported by Teaching Assistants, with the number of TAs allocated based on course enrolment. This support enables faculty members to devote greater attention to pedagogy, mentoring, and research.
