
Advertisement for University Post-Doctoral Fellows Position
Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU) invites applications from motivated and eligible candidates with an established record of high-quality research for the position of University Post-Doctoral Fellow (UPDF) in the areas of Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Communication and Signal Processing, Electronics & VLSI, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
Eligibility
- Candidates should have a Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent in the preceding degree and a good academic record throughout. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis can also apply*.
- Candidates should preferably be less than 35 years of age at the time of applying.
*Candidates who have not yet defended their theses but are selected for the UPDF position will be placed on probation for 3-6 months, and they have to successfully defend their PhD theses and submit the PhD degree certificate or the provisional PhD degree awarded certificate within 6 months of joining to the UPDF position. Failure to do so, the contract will be terminated.
Duration
Initially for one year, extendable up to three years based on performance.
Fellowship and Benefits
- Fellowship Amount: INR 1,00,000 per month (consolidated)**.
- Contingency Grant: INR 2,50,000 per annum for research expenses, conference travel, etc.
- Leave Benefits: Casual leave and Maternity/paternity leave as per University’s norms.
- Medical insurance: Medical insurance coverage as per the University’s norm.
- Research Incentive: UPDF is eligible for research incentive policy of the University.
**Candidates who have not yet defended their theses but are selected for the UPDF position will receive Rs. 75,000 (consolidated) without contingency grant. Candidates will be formally moved to a UPDF position with full benefits once the thesis is successfully defended and the PhD degree certificate or the provisional PhD degree awarded certificate is shared with the University.
Roles and Responsibilities of Post-Doctoral Fellow
- Conduct independent and collaborative research.
- Publish high-quality research papers in top-tier journals and conferences.
- Assist faculty mentor in collaborative research and sponsored projects.
- Assist in guiding M.Tech./B.Tech./M.Sc. students.
- Present research findings in conferences/workshops.
- Contribute to teaching (one course in a year).
- Submit periodic progress reports to the faculty mentor.
Evaluation and Renewal
Annual performance evaluation by an Evaluation Committee based on:
- Research output (papers, patents, projects).
- Feedback from the faculty mentor.
- Renewal is subject to satisfactory progress and funding availability.
Application Procedure
Candidates must first contact a faculty member in the University who is willing to host the candidate. A consent letter or consent email is required from the faculty member as a part of the application package. Candidates must submit the following information while applying for the position (Application with incomplete information will not be considered for screening):
- Curriculum Vitae with a list of all publications.
- Proposed research plan (up to 1000 words).
- PhD degree certificate, or provisional PhD degree awarded certificate, or PhD thesis submitted certificate.
- Names and contact details of three academic referees.
- Each application should be endorsed by one/two regular faculty members in the relevant area of the candidate’s research interest. A candidate is required to contact one/two faculty members with whom he/she wants to work with for post-doctoral research work. Faculty member(s) formal consent letter to host the candidate for the post-doctoral work is to be attached in the candidate’s application packet.

Note
- Applications will be considered throughout the year.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
- The position is purely temporary and contractual in nature.
- PhD graduates from DAU are not eligible for this position unless they have gained at least three years of work experience outside the university after completing their PhD.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an in-person interview in the campus. The University reserves the right to screen and call only such candidates for an interview as are found suitable. Therefore, merely fulfilling the eligibility criteria will not entitle a candidate to be selected.
