E-Cell, IIT Kharagpur and DCEI Fuel Gujarat's Startup Culture with Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive 2025

October 9, 2025, Gandhinagar On October 9, 2025, the Dhirubhai Ambani Centre for Entrepreneurship and Incubation (DCEI), Business Club of Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU) in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur (E-Cell, IITKGP) organised the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) Ahmedabad 2025 at the DAU campus in Gandhinagar. This event was a joint initiative by the institutes to foster innovation and build a dynamic startup culture.

The event, which attracted over 100 participants, had a keynote address, a fireside chat and a panel discussion where the speakers shared their entrepreneurial journey of starting, failing and finally succeeding in their respective domains.

  • Mr. Achal Bakeri (Founder and CMD, Symphony Limited) captivated the audience by recounting his extensive entrepreneurial journey, emphasising the imperative of resilience, strategic market re-entry, and corporate comeback through key acquisitions in the air cooling sector.
  • Ms. Jyoti Sudhir (Co-founder & CEO, InventIndia Innovations | Executive Director, On2Cook India) stressed the importance of ground-level work for a successful business venture. She also highlighted that people management remains a critically crucial factor, even in the current AI-driven era, offering practical insights into operational realities.
  • Mr. Japesh Jayadhevan (CEO, Hocco) offered a foundational approach, advising budding founders to focus on identifying and solving basic, real-world problems before scaling, and sharing genuine practical knowledge about the initial challenges of a startup journey.
  • Mr. Jesal Mehta (Founder & CEO, Aavenir) shared critical entrepreneurship lessons during the panel discussion, providing actionable advice on vital areas such as team building and securing funding in the SaaS space.
  • Mr. Mayank Jani (Founder, Managing Director, Nanta Tech Ltd.) provided a forward-looking perspective on the synergy between AI and robotics, stressing the importance of aligning academic teaching with ground-level implementation.

EAD Ahmedabad 2025 highlighted the shared commitment of DCEI and E-Cell IITKGP to cultivate a vibrant and knowledgeable startup ecosystem in Gujarat. Both institutes plan to utilise this foundational partnership to launch further collaborative programmes, incubation support, and joint initiatives for the benefit of aspiring regional entrepreneurs.
